Goodwin College’s Jan Costello Receives The 2013 Connecticut League For Nursing’s President’s Award

Each year at its annual convention, the Connecticut League for Nursing (CLN) recognizes nursing leaders who have contributed significantly to their profession. On June 7, the 2013 CLN President’s Award was presented to Goodwin College’s Jan Costello, MSN, RN, Nursing Department Chair. The CLN Board of Directors established this award in 1991 to recognize an individual who has contributed significantly through volunteering time, commitment and active participation in the CLN, and who has shown a commitment to furthering the mission and goals of the organization. A press release provided by CLN stated, “Jan Costello has demonstrated program leadership and innovation, developed clear competencies to enhance the learning experiences for her students at Goodwin College, and is a passionate advocate and mentor in the areas of geriatric education and the care of older adults. She is a visionary with a strong capacity for leadership and planning, which is evident through her work with National League for Nursing’s Evaluation & Testing Division, as well as her work with CLN on a statewide basis holding the positions of President-Elect for the Board of Directors, Chairperson of the Eldercare Workgroup and active member of the Council of Deans & Directors. Jan is a facilitator for the programming offered by CLN at the Health CareeRx Academy to help individuals interested in pursuing careers in health care with acquiring the self-awareness, communication and team work skills necessary to be successful within the health care workplace.”
